Born on St. Maarten, Eugene B. Holiday, following his secondary education in St. Maarten left for the island in 1979 for the Netherlands where he completed his secondary education and graduated from the Catholic University of Brabant with a doctoral degree in economics in 1987. 

An economist by training, he began his career, at the Central Bank of the Netherlands Antilles in 1987. He worked at the Central Bank for eight years, in various advisory and management positions, among which, that of Deputy Director charged with Economic and Monetary Affairs.

In 1995, he entered the aviation field as Managing Director of Windward Island Airways International Ltd, to implement an urgently needed financial and operational reorganization program. 

In 1998, he was appointed, to his current position of President of the Princess Juliana International Airport Operating Company, the airport of St. Maarten. In this capacity he is responsible for the overall management and development of airport and air traffic control business on the island. In this capacity he spear headed the execution of the over one hundred million dollar airport expansion plan, which includes, a new terminal building, a new ATC tower and radar facility, an expanded apron and additional land-side and ancillary services between 2003  and 2006.

Over the years he has and continues to play a role in the socio economic development of the island of St. Maarten through his membership on various Boards of Directors, committees and task forces, among which that of Chairman of the Workgroup on Constitutional Affairs charged with the preparations for St. Maarten to obtain the status of Country within the Dutch Kingdom.
