John P. Kirby joined AirTran Airways in December 1999. Serving as Senior Director, Strategic Planning & Scheduling, he is responsible for long range planning, route and frequency planning, and aircraft scheduling.
Kirby previously held management positions with US Airways in the planning and scheduling areas. Prior to his time at US Airways, he served in the schedule development area at Northwest Airlines from 1989 through 1992. In 1983, Kirby began his aviation career at People Express Airlines, serving in various positions as part of the carrier’s cross-utilization management philosophy.
A native of the New York City area, Kirby is an alumnus of Montclair State University. He currently resides in Winter Springs, Florida with his wife Libby, daughter Kayla, and son Mitchell.
